These handmade, Elizabethan style soap balls are well worth making. They are moisturizing and have a slightly exfoliating effect on the skin. The essential oils give the soap a delightful smell but provide no coloring so your finished soap balls will be the same color as the soap you start with.
Ingredients:
- 250 g unperfumed vegetable oil soap
- 25 g medium ground oatmeal
- 3 tsp liquid coconut oil
- 1 drop lemongrass essential oil
- 2 drops bergamot essential oil
- 3 drops lemon essential oil
- Grate the soap into a heat resistant mixing bowl and stir in a little water (in the ratio of ane part water to two parts soap). Put over a gentle heat in a double saucepan, stirring all the time until the mixture becomes a thick paste.
- Remove the bowl from the heat and add the oatmeal and coconut oil, mixing thoroughly. Allow the mixture to cool slightly before adding the essential oils.
- Divide the mixture into equal sized portions and roll each into a neat ball. Leave the balls to harden overnight on a wire rack. Wrap in tissue paper or store in a screw top jar in a cool place.
