Use the mellow hues, subtle scent and soothing properties of chamomile to harmonize your home.

Scented Sleep Sachet

Put this scented sleep sachet under your pillow and let the sedative effects of chamomile and hops give you a better night’s sleep. This sachet requires no sewing at all. You can also make some sachets to hang under a running tap to scent your bath water. You will need:

  • 2 20 cm x 15 cm pieces fine lace fabric or delicate curtain fabric
  • pins
  • 2 90 cm lengths of narrow silk ribbon in 2 colors
  • small safety pin
  • scissors
  • dried chamomile and hop flowers
  1. Pin the fabric together and make small cuts through both pieces at 2 cm intervals, 2 cm from the edges.
  2. Attach the ends of the ribbons to the safety pin and thread them through the holes leaving a small gap on one side of the sachet.
  3. Fill with the chamomile and hops and tie the ribbons in a bow.

Inspired By Chamomile

Fields of daisy like chamomile flowers are a good inspiration for a sunny yet tranquil color scheme. In daylight, the tones of sandy yellow and rich cream are easy on the eye and make harmonious decorative schemes which are both cool in summer, yet present a warm and welcoming atmosphere in winter.

Chamomile is renowned for its sedative qualities and as a cure for insomnia. Use a palette of similar mellow tones of color and a splash of white to create a feeling of tranquility and wellbeing.

Grow Your Own

Old books on herbs say that if you have a sickly plant, growing chamomile nearby will revive it. Chamomile thrives from being crushed, so plant a bed sized lawn and lie on this natural healing patch to release the scent.
