Rosemary Head Lice EliminatorIn order to be effective, this formula contains a higher than usual proportion of essential oils. However, it’s safe for short-term use on children of 5 years and over. For younger children reduce the quantity of essential oil to 35 drops in total.

  • 25 drops rosemary essential oil
  • 15 drops lavender essential oil
  • 15 drops tea tree essential oil
  • 100 ml grapeseed or sweet almond oil

Put the oils into a dark glass bottle, add the grapeseed or sweet almond oil and shake well. Apply to wet hair (otherwise it will be difficult to shampoo the oil out) by massaging well into the scalp to reach the hair roots. Pay particular attention to the areas around the ears and nape of the neck, where lice breed. Leave on for at least an hour. Shampoo out thoroughly.

Although essential oils kill adult lice, they don’t destroy their eggs (nits). Following the oil treatment, remove the eggs and dead lice with a regulation fine-toothed comb (available from chemists). Repeat the treatment twice more at three-day intervals to ensure that the infestation has completely cleared.
